unedited. unfiltered. unexpected.

It all began out of frustration.

Millennials: Those born between 1981 & 1996

And just like that, I was shaken, frustrated, and felt voiceless. That was the last time I’d hear someone criticize millennials and just bite my tongue. Millennials are often given a bad wrap about who we are and what we stand for. Millennials Talk was my answer. Millennials Talk focuses on bringing the power back to millennials. Who said we can’t buy houses because we love smashed avo on toast?

This podcast is in no way a place of slandering or calling out other generations. It’s purely a platform for incredible millennials to rise up and inspire others by sharing their message and journey.

 Journey to Millennials Talk

Millennials Talk had been in the works since I was about nine - before podcasts were even a thing. For as long as I can remember, I wanted to have a talk show that was mine. When I was younger, I would sit and record the radio (AKA the living legends that are Kyle & Jackie O - who I still listen to every day from the US) on my MP3 player then iPod nano 1st generation - with this attachment that took me six months to save up and buy. I would record their conversations, write down the topics and then continue the chat by myself (I still talk to myself) or with others, if they were around.

Before I studied journalism, I went to uni to follow my love for health and fitness and to become what I thought was my path - a speech pathologist or physiotherapist. When asked by the careers counselor at school what my dream job was, I said to be on a talk show on TV and radio - yet somehow it didn’t click with either of us that I should follow my dreams - so I went into health. I in no way regret those two years as I believe education is never wasted, however, what I did learn was studying health at uni wasn’t for me. Unexpectedly, my love for the media became so strong I was so close to dropping out altogether, but instead, deferred and escaped Australia for seven months and headed to the United States. Between working on a summer camp and experiencing my first taste of freedom while traveling around solo, I also signed up for a radio course. I pulled out last minute when I worried about being in debt forever as like most 19-year-olds, I didn’t have a spare $12,000 ($17,500 AUD) lying around for the program.

When podcasts arose many years ago, I fell in love. For years I had notes on my phone for potential shows, ideas, guests, and topics, but I was never confident enough to do it alone without a co-host. When my mum visited me in 2019 and we got talking once again about my on-hold/still non-existent podcast, I cried confused as couldn’t work out where my podcast would fit and what niche I could specialize in. Was I health, journalism, entertainment, DIY, or nutrition? I had no idea. It was a constant battle of confusion and frustration I’d had with my inner thoughts over many years. It wasn’t until my mum literally had to spell it out that it was okay and actually a positive to have a variety of passions and be multi-hyphenate. Driving mindlessly around Griffith Park, the name Millennials Talk was born, and within the next hour, the domain, email addresses and social media platforms were all bought and scooped up.

Millennials Talk is a podcast for those with an open heart and mind who want to be a part of implementing positive change in the world. Topics such as mental/physical health, nutrition, pop culture, careers, burn-out, periods, women’s rights, taxes, travel, self-love, politics, and the environment, among many others, are what is covered. Nothing is off limits and nothing is taboo, the way life should be.

My only hope is that you enjoy the chats and get as inspired by my superstar guests as I have.

Thank you for listening, thank you for supporting, and thank you for allowing me to turn my dream into reality.
